Losing 20 pounds may have a very positive effect on your health and may protect you from cancer according to a new study from RutgersUniversity.  Obesity is on the rise in much of the West and it is bringing extreme health consequences; a new study reveals that inflammatory fat (which is often associated with excess stomach fat) is linked to ovarian cancer in women. Losing 20 pound may cause a reduction in the risk of this form of cancer.

Inflammatory fat is stubborn and dangerous

A new study found that women who are obese have a high risk of developing ovarian cancer compared with women who are of healthy weight. The link was explained in a study conducted by researchers from Rutgers University. Dr. Elisa Bandera, a Rutgers Cancer Institute associate professor on epidemiology in New Jersey, says there is an increase of six percent in risk of ovarian cancer per five points in the BMI. Losing 20 pounds can save the body but in attempting this goal it is best to avoid the popular commercial diets and stick to real science for weight loss.


Their was a  positive result of the study, the number of people at risk for ovarian cancer could be cut by as much as 100,000 if every adult lost 2.2 pounds;  if a 2.2 loss of weight could create this much of a drop in cancer imagine  losing 20 pounds.

In defense of the people many are dieting but the typical commercial diets that people are reaching for are not working, the commercial diets are not based on any real science.

Why we cannot lose weight

The reason we are not losing weight is due to the fact that we as a people are still turning to celebrity endorsed Hollywood diet which are not scientifically proven to cause any real loss of inflammatory fat.  We reach for these name brand diets because we are bombarded by their television commercials continually.
